Growing Instructions

Thyme loves sun and hates wet feet. That's the secret.

1. Outdoor Growing:

• Light: Full sun - needs 6-8 hours of direct sun daily. This is essential for the best flavor.
• Soil: Well-draining, sandy, even rocky soil is perfect. If you have heavy clay (common in Florida), plant in a raised bed or container. pH 6.0 - 8.0.
• Water: Water deeply after planting, then let the soil dry out between waterings. Overwatering is the #1 killer. Once established, it's very drought tolerant.
• Spacing: Space 12-18 inches apart. It will grow into a lovely 6-12 inch tall mounding groundcover.
• Florida Tip: Thyme thrives in our heat but appreciates afternoon shade in peak summer and excellent airflow. Perfect for containers on the patio where you can control drainage.

2. Indoor Growing:

• Light: Brightest window you have - south-facing is best. If leaves start stretching, it needs more light. A small grow light works great in winter.
• Pot & Soil: Must have drainage holes! Use a cactus/succulent mix or potting soil mixed with extra perlite/sand.
• Water: Less is more. Water only when the top 1-2 inches of soil are completely dry. Never let it sit in water.
• Harvest Often: Regular trimming keeps it bushy and prevents it from getting woody. Never remove more than 1/3 of the plant at once.
